Frog

Couple of days ago we dissected frogs. When I first entered the room the small was very bad it smelled like 100 garbage cans puked on the tables. At first when we started I was scared to open the frog because I thought some kind of juice wood come out. Then when we opened the frog I was amazed that there were so many eggs all around I thought the there would be 15-30 eggs not 100. Then we saw the liver which I thought was the lungs. We dissected the frog to see how the parts of it where similar to the human parts. Some things that where the same were the heart, lungs, small intestine, large intestine, etc. The materials we used were similar to the chicken wing we used and pins. We had to cut out some of the frog to see the other parts in the frog. One thing that was new to me was that the gallbladder was green I thought it would be brown like the other organs. I think that the 2nd day was better than the first day because I did not want to take out more eggs, and wanted to look at the organs and how they were similar. The frog is not similar to the frog because they swallow their food whole and we don’t, they have 3 sets of liver, and much more. I think the frog was the most like the human than any of the animals we dissected.

9/7-9/8 Lab

We learned about the digestion system and stomach. The materials we used were a test tub rack, pepsin, water, 4 strips of litmas papers, boiled eggs, graduated cylender, hydronic acid and 4 test tubes with stoppers. We used the eggs as the meal, and the hydronic acid as hydronic acid. We used the beakers for your stomachs in our body. So all in all we put the eggs in the bakers and added acid to some of the beakers and we used enzymes in the beaker too. The next day we found out that the digestion system takes a long time because our eggs had not digested all the way.

Chicken Wing Green Class

One thing i learned from the chicken wing experiment is that the chicken wing was just like the human arm. One way it is the same as the arm is that both have muscle and bone that move the part. We also learned that the chicken wing also has muscle just like the human arm. We also now know that the wing has bone just like the arm. We also know that the chicken has ligaments in the wing just like the arm. Those were the facts that stud out to me the most because they were the ones that we most like the human arm.

Science Green Lab 10/11/11

I learned that when you mix the solution in the beaker ( iodine) and the solution in the bag (starch) the starch turns purple but the iodione stays orange. Also i learned that even though the cell membrene controls what goes in and out of a cell little things can still get in. Also I learneed that starches are kept in the cell.
